Obituary – Donald E. Conoly

Donald Eugene Conoly, 83, of Van Horn passed away on September 21, 2015 in Van Horn. 

Rosary was held on September 24 at our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Van Horn. Funeral Mass was held on September 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Saul Pacheco officiating. Burial followed at Van Horn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home of Van Horn. 

Don was born in Richardson, Tex. to Edward Martin and Elizabeth Ann Conoly on July 12, 1932. He went to Jesuit Catholic School. He married Mary Jo Pinkert on April 11, 1953. Don and Jo moved to Van Horn in 1956. 

Don’s occupation at that time was farming; the couple became business owners in 1969 where Don worked until his death. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Air force from 1952 to 1960. He was an active member of the Culberson County Water District, an officer of the ASCS, Jaycee club and VFW. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Elizabeth Conoly, his brother John Conoly, sisters Margaret Taber and Mildred Mills. Don is also preceded in death by his son Bill Conoly, and granddaughter Brandi Conoly. 

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Conoly and their children Don and Barbara Conoly of San Angelo; Paul and Sandra Conoly of San Angelo; Debbie and Roy Clark of Van Horn; and Beth Gary and John Elder of Van Horn; 13 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren also survive Don. 

Pallbearers included Don’s grandsons that he was so very proud of and his pride and joy. Chance Clark, Roy Dale Clark, Zane Gary, Zach Gary, Scott Conoly, Eric Conoly, Brice Conoly, and Reed Conoly. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Don’s awesome coffee drinking buddies from the Sands. 

The family of Don Conoly wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Culberson Hospital EMS, the clinic, Dr. Garner, Carla Marrow, Gilda Morales, Dr. Pepe and all the staff. Y’all are amazing. We can never thank you enough. We also have to thank the town of Van Horn for their outpouring of love for dad and all your thoughts and prayers.
