Cami’s run ends

By Adrian Norman

Senior Camille Uranga competed in the 2A State Tennis Tournament last week in College Station.  The weather was horrible, and the matches were delayed due to rain.  Uranga took the court to square off against Brittainy Lendo of Brookeland.  Uranga took charge of the match and won the first set by a score of 6-3, but lost the second set 3-6.  Both girls had each won a match and now had to play a decisive third set.  The two young ladies went back and forth in hopes to keep their season alive, and possibly play for the State Title.  In the final set, Uranga lost 6-3, and her remarkable career at VHHS came to an end.

Uranga said, “I’d like to thank all of my supporters, school, team, community, and my Dad.  I give all the glory to God for giving me the opportunity to end my career on the biggest stage.”

As her coach, I was honored to be part of her journey.  She inspired to me to never make excuses, and always make time to train.  Her work ethic, leadership, and strong moral values will ensure her a life full of success.
