Tarango will be in Sundown, Texas on Saturday, March 11 for the regional powerlifting competition. He is currently tied for third in the state with a total lift of 1180 pounds a few weeks ago. He lifted in Pecos two weeks ago and “bombed out” on the squat as he attempted to lift enough to total 1200 pounds which would have automatically qualified him for the state meet in Abilene on March 25.
Elvis Tarango represented the Valentine Pirates at the Rio Grande Relays in Sanderson on Thursday, March 2. He finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.37 which was an improvement over his first outing at Fort Stockton when he finished fourth in a time of 11.65. He finished second in the 200 with a time of 22.86 which was an improvement over his Fort Stockton time which was clocked at 23.35.
