Dr. Amy Starr, of Mesa Veterinary Clinic in El Paso, was in Van Horn recently with the easily recognizable “Paws N’ Hooves Mobile Vet Clinic.” Dr. Starr and her staff had patients “chomping at the bit” from 9:00 in the morning until well after midnight. According to Monique Conway, Director of Public Relations & Marketing, there were 24 surgeries performed, along with 20 horses getting bloodwork with 10 of those having other procedures. The bloodwork met requirements for the Intrastate Accepted Official Equine Infectious Anemia Tests (Coggins) for horses moved within the state.
The Town of Van Horn had chip implants available, but none were requested during the mobile visit. Local pet owners interested in the pet chip implant for their pets, can call Grace or Rebecca at City Hall, 432-283-2050 or visit them at 1801 W. Broadway.
Although “Paws N’ Hooves” had not been to Van Horn for about two years, the Mobile Clinic is planning to return every 6 months to meet the high demand for service in this area.
Mesa Veterinary Clinic and Paws N’ Hooves Mobile Veterinary Services is a full service animal hospital, and takes emergency and less urgent medical, surgical, and dental issues.
