Benjamin B. Mendias

Benjamin B. Mendias, 93, of Big Spring, formerly of Van Horn, died Friday, July 28.   Vigil service was Monday, August 7 at Myers & Smith Chapel with funeral service following.

He was born February 11, 1924 in Marfa to Esther Borunda Mendias and Apolonio Mendias.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed in the Pacific during WW II.  He was a butcher at several Van Horn grocery stores thru the years.  He was a Catholic.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Mendias of Van Horn; one son: Benjamin D. Mendias and wife Sally of Odessa; two daughters: Mary Ester Segars and husband James of Waco and Virginia Garrobo and husband Juan of Arizona; one sister: Estefana Spitzer of Stanton; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
