Rosa passed away on Sunday, July 23, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. She was born on May 26, 1952 in Van Horn to Hernan and Claudia Cortes (nee: Lopez). She was a social worker for the State of Texas and then a dispatcher for the Culberson County Sheriff’s Office.
She is survived by her daughter, Marisa and husband Joseph Miller of Lake Orion, Michigan; 2 Sisters; Maria and husband Carlos Sanchez of Round Rock, Texas and Guadalupe and husband Joe Cortez of Odessa; and a Brother, Fernando Cortez of Oklahoma; Proud grandmother of Talia Victoria Miller, Taylor Marie Miller and Tyler Joseph Miller.
Funeral Mass is Saturday, August 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 308 S. Almond Street, Van Horn. After her burial, refreshments will be served at the Nutrition Center at 1206 West Broadway.
