The schedule is set for the annual Valentine High School Ex-Students Reunion, Saturday, October 14 in Valentine. The day kicks-off with a parade at 10:00 a.m. at the Valentine Community Center at 109 E. Main Street ending at Valentine Elementary School. Cash prizes will be awarded with $200 going to the first place float, $100 for second place and $50 for third place. Find Viola Calderon at the Community Center before 10:00 a.m. to enter your float.
The 2017 Homecoming Queen & King Coronation will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the High School Auditorium, followed by an Ex-Students Meeting at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
The Student Council will sell their famous hamburgers with fixins for lunch in the Elementary Building at 12:00 p.m. The VISD campus will be open for the usual walks down Memory Lane.
There is an Exes Roping scheduled this year with books opening at 11:00 a.m. at the Navarrete Arena west of the Community Center. The roping starts at 12:00 p.m. It will be an enter 1 draw 3 for $120 per person plus $30 add-ons. Personalized saddle, buckles and breast collars will be awarded to the top winners.
There is a washer tournament beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Center with cash prize awards of $350 for first place, $250 for second place, and $100 for third place winners. The Community Center will be open for dominoes and card games during the afternoon, (bring your own cards and dominoes). Raffle tickets for a 55” Flat Screen HD TV will be sold throughout the day. Drawing for the TV will be held at the dance (scheduled below), and you do not need to be present to win. DJ music will entertain at the afternoon activities.
The Student Council will sell BBQ dinner plates at the High School Auditorium at 6:00 p.m. The day concludes with a dance from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at the Community Center featuring DJ Tanner Productions from El Paso providing all kinds of music to suit your style. Come on over to Valentine for a memorable day.
