Games to be played at former Boys & Girls Club gym

Culberson County-Allamoore ISD (CCAISD) Board of Trustees met in regular session on November 30.  Superintendent Ken Baugh reported on the renovations to the gym at the former Boys and Girls Club at 102 E. 2nd Street, operating as the Culberson County Youth Club. The scoreboard is up and flooring is in the process of being installed.  It is anticipated that the first game of the new year will be held there on January 2, 2018.  Updates to the concession stand are also underway.  The bleachers will have a capacity of 105 plus there will be a live feed of the game in the main room so those at the concession stand will be able to watch the action.  The athletics department will be operating the concession stand to raise funds for uniforms.  They will be serving hamburgers and pizza in addition to the usual concession items.  Culberson County and the School District are sharing the cost for these improvements.

Baugh also gave an update on the K-12 construction project.  The project is still on schedule to be completed by February 2019. Baugh also reported on various grants awarded to the school for salaries, equipment, supplies and materials. These funds help stretch our local dollars and enhance various programs within the District.

Baugh reviewed The Van Horn Vision with the Board. As part of this, he reported that the District will be providing space for a pediatric dentist to set up mobile equipment at the school to provide basic dental service to our students.

In other business, the CCAISD Board members:

Approved various monthly reports for September and October.

Nominated Jack Dorris for the Hudspeth County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Approved TASB Board Policy Update 109.

Learned that El Paso Electric will be reimbursing the District for approximately $9K for the cost of installing electric service to the new football complex.

Held a lengthy executive session with no action taken.
